U.S. Fire Administrator's Summit Background
In 1947, President Harry S. Truman convened the first National Conference on fire prevention, life safety and control activities.
Two years ago, on the 75th anniversary of that landmark event, the USFA continued the tradition by hosting the 2022 U.S. Fire Administrator’s Summit on Fire Prevention and Control. Pursuant to Public Law 93-498, the inaugural summit focused on the Nation’s fire problem and the needs of the Nation’s fire and emergency medical responders. We engaged national leadership, evaluated the state of science, and established working groups to undertake actionable steps to reduce the overall fire problem and protect our responders.
For 2024, we will continue the tradition and engage top Federal Officials and fire service leaders from around the country. This is an opportunity to connect with leaders making a change for the betterment of the fire service.
