Danielle Antonellis is a Fire Safety Engineer and the Executive Director of Kindling, an international nonprofit organization dedicated to making fire safety accessible to all.

Kindling drives better fire safety outcomes in vulnerable communities around the world by identifying and addressing gaps in knowledge, capacity, practice, and empathy. Kindling’s team of interdisciplinary researchers and practitioners apply systems thinking to understand the sociotechnical complexities of fire and develop contextualized fire strategies with affected communities.

Prior to founding Kindling, Danielle was a fire engineering consultant with Arup, based in the UK, UK, and Hong Kong, and a fire engineer with Johnson Controls (formerly Tyco). She holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and a master’s degree in fire protection engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and is currently an adjunct senior lecturer at Stellenbosch University in South Africa.
