Monica Owens Doyle is the National Program Manager of Community Preparedness and Resilience Services at the American Red Cross, where she has worked for over 16 years. She joined the Red Cross after serving two terms of service with AmeriCorps*National Civilian Community Corps. In 2012, the Obama Administration recognized Monica as a White House Champion of Change for her work in community preparedness and resilience building after Hurricane Katrina in Mississippi and Louisiana. Monica has worked in the home fire space for 10 years and helped research, design, and launch Red Cross’ nationwide Home Fire Campaign in 2014. Her team manages the home fire program and the agency’s recent expansion into wildfire preparedness home visits, as well as the pilot testing of additional climate hazard focused visits, like tornado and hurricane visits. Through these programs, the Red Cross has documented: 3 million people served, 2.8 million smoke alarms installed, 1.2 million in-home visits, 2,167 lives saved from residential structure fires, and 19 homes saved from wildfires.

Monica’s professional interests lie in fulfilling the Red Cross mission by preventing human suffering due to disasters and supporting community risk reduction efforts and leveraging data to drive program effectiveness. She holds a degree in Anthropology and Biology from the University of Georgia and is a certified project management and nonprofit professional with a graduate certificate from Louisiana State University. Monica resides in Ogden, Utah with her husband, their three children, and their rescue dog.
