Chief Jones had his first experience in fire working for the Bureau of Land Management in northern California as a seasonal firefighter in 1988. In the 30 plus years since that time, he has gathered experience with departments both volunteer and combination, large and small. Prior to joining his most recent team in 2023, Sean spent over 23 years with the Poudre Fire Authority as Firefighter, Driver Operator, Captain, operations Battalion Chief and retiring as Battalion Chief of Planning and Analysis and Accreditation Manager. Now as the Deputy Chief of Operations for the Golden Fire Department, Chief Jones has embarked on a journey to help guide the organization through enormous change and an opportunity to set the standard of a modern-day combination department in a major metro area. With a passion for innovative approaches in EMS, rescue and fire that prioritizes customer and community service, Sean is engaged in providing collaborative leadership to encourage and enable others to stretch their “outside the box” thinking within the fire service. He is a Peer Assessor for the Commission on Fire Accreditation International (CFAI) and everyday a student of the profession.
